What is repentance and is it necessary for salvation?

Image result for repentance images
Question: "What is repentance and is it necessary for salvation?"

Answer:
Many understand the term repentance (from the Greek word metanoia) to mean “turning from sin.” This is not the biblical definition of repentance. In the Bible, the word repent means “to change one’s mind.” The Bible also tells us that true repentance will result in a change of actions (Luke 3:8-14Acts 3:19). Acts 26:20 declares, “I preached that they should repent and turn to God and prove their repentance by their deeds.” The full biblical definition of repentance is

PhD Department of Educational Psychology/Guidance and Counselling, Alvan Ikoku Federal College of Education Owerri email: lettagozie@yahoo.com and DURU, N. E. MRS Comprehensive Secondary School, Amakohia-Uratta Owerri email: ngozievangelina@yahoo.com Abstract The study focused on sexual promiscuity among female undergraduates and the attendant health implications. It was carried out in the tertiary institutions in Imo State using 415 final year degree students drawn from four institutions in the State. Three research questions were formulated to guide the study. The design was a descriptive survey. A 12 item questionnaire was structured and validated for the study. Simple percentages were used to answer the research questions. The results indicated the prevalence of sexual promiscuity among female undergraduates, the causes and effects of such unhealthy behaviour on healthy living. Hence, the call for instructional and moral counselling in institutions of higher learning. Recommendations were made based on the findings which, among others was that the counselling Departments in the Universities should

THE DAMAGE OF SEXUAL PROMISCUITY

Giving People the Full Story
Not everyone who has sex gets pregnant. Not everyone who has unprotected sex gets AIDS or other STDs. Yet enough do that we take great lengths to warn people of the potential dangers. Sadly, little has been said of the danger of how pre-marital sex can negatively affect people for the rest of their lives.
The Potential Damage
Some years ago, while doing some video taping of cranes in the wild from a helicopter, I learned of how these birds “imprint” when they are first born. In other words, whatever creature they first interact with after birth, they assume it is their

What is more important, the death of Christ or His resurrection?

Image result for jesus died for our sins images
Question: "What is more important, the death of Christ or His resurrection?"

Answer:
The death and resurrection of Christ are equally important. Jesus’ death and resurrection accomplish separate but necessarily related things. The death and resurrection of our Lord are really inseparable, like the warp and weft of cloth.

The cross of Christ won for us the victory that we could never have won for ourselves. “Having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross” (Colossians 2:15). On the cross God piled our sins on Jesus, and He bore the punishment due us (Isaiah 53:4–8). In His death, Jesus took

Why did Jesus have to die?

Question: "Why did Jesus have to die?"

Answer:
When we ask a question such as this, we must be careful that we are not calling God into question. To wonder why God couldn’t find “another way” to do something is to imply that the way He has chosen is not the best course of action and that some other method would be better. Usually what we perceive as a “better” method is one that seems right to us. Before we can come to grips with anything God does, we have to first acknowledge that His ways are not our ways, His thoughts are not our thoughts—they are higher than ours (Isaiah 55:8). In addition, Deuteronomy 32:4 reminds us that “He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his ways are just. A faithful God who

What does it mean that Jesus died for our sins?

Question: "What does it mean that Jesus died for our sins?"

Answer:
Simply put, without Jesus’ death on the cross for our sins, no one would have eternal life. Jesus Himself said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6). In this statement, Jesus declares the reason for His birth, death, and resurrection—to provide the way to heaven for sinful mankind, who could never get there on their own.

What does the Bible say about revenge?

Image result for revenge images
Question: "What does the Bible say about revenge?"

Answer:
The Bible has a great deal to say about revenge. Both the Hebrew and Greek words translated “vengeance,” “revenge,” and “avenge” have as their root meaning the idea of punishment. This is crucial in understanding why God reserves for Himself the right to avenge.

The key verse regarding this truth is found in the Old Testament and quoted twice in the New Testament. God said, “It is mine to avenge; I will repay. In due time their foot will slip; their day of disaster is near and their doom rushes upon them” (Deuteronomy 32:35Romans 12:19Hebrews 10:30). In Deuteronomy, God is

What did Jesus mean when He instructed us to love our enemies?

Question: "What did Jesus mean when He instructed us to love our enemies?"

Answer:
When Jesus said we are to love our enemies, He was creating a new standard for relationships. He proclaimed to the crowds listening to His Sermon on the Mount that they knew they were to love their neighbor because the command to love our neighbor was a law of God (Leviticus 19:18). That we must therefore hate our enemy was an inference incorrectly drawn from it by the Jews. While no Bible verse explicitly says “hate your enemy,” the Pharisees may

10 MEN CHRISTIAN WOMEN SHOULD NOT MARRY

10 MEN CHRISTIAN WOMEN SHOULD NOT MARRY

By Dr. Stephen Kim
Divorce for Christians (except for 1 reason) is never permitted by God. Hence, you must choose well. Outside of your decision to follow Jesus, marriage will be your 2nd greatest decision in life. So, here’s my take on a paramount issue.
10 Men Christian Women Should Not Marry:
1. The Unbeliever. Seems quite simple, but I’ve met too many who’ve married unbelievers thinking that they’ll change them. Rarely happens. “Missionary Dating” is unbiblical and will only rob you of true marital bliss. Remember

10 WOMEN CHRISTIAN MEN SHOULD NOT MARRY

by Dr. Stephen Kim
In a former post, I detailed 10 men that Christian women ought to avoid when considering marriage.  Today, I present to you my list for Christian men.
“I have perceived among the youths, a young man lacking sense, passing along the street near her corner, taking the road to her house” (Proverbs 7:7-8).
1. The Unbeliever. Scripture is replete with exhortations against such marriages (in both the Old and New Testaments).  Contrary to popular misconception, God’s prohibition against marriages to

Is it possible to know when Jesus is coming back?

Question: "Is it possible to know when Jesus is coming back?"

Answer:
Matthew 24:36-44 declares, “No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father…Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come…So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect Him.” At first glance, these verses would seem to provide a clear and explicit answer to the question. No, no one can know when Jesus is coming back. However, those verses do not say that no one will ever be able to know when Jesus will return. Most Bible scholars would say

Does the Old Testament truly predict a second advent of the Messiah?

Image result for second coming images
Question: "Does the Old Testament truly predict a second advent of the Messiah?"

Answer:
The Old Testament does prophesy the second coming of Christ, also referred to as the second advent of the Messiah. Some Old Testament prophecies concern the first advent, when Christ was born as a human being. Others concern the second advent, which is the ultimate triumph of this Messiah. It’s important to remember that prophecy does not describe the future in the same detail as history describes the past. So, while the prophecies of the Old Testament certainly describe both the first and second advents, most early interpretations of these prophecies melded them into a single event. Particularly during the years leading up to Jesus’ birth, it was

What is the Second Coming of Jesus Christ?

Question: "What is the Second Coming of Jesus Christ?"

Answer:
The second coming of Jesus Christ is the hope of believers that God is in control of all things, and is faithful to the promises and prophecies in His Word. In His first coming, Jesus Christ came to earth as a baby in a manger in Bethlehem, just as prophesied. Jesus fulfilled many of the prophecies of the Messiah during His birth, life, ministry, death, and resurrection. However, there are some prophecies regarding the Messiah that Jesus has not yet fulfilled. The second coming of Christ will be the return of Christ to fulfill these remaining
